DUPLIN COUNTY, N.C. 鈥 The driver of a Duplin County EMS ambulance was charged following a collision with a tractor-trailer.
The collision occurred on June 12 at the intersection of Highway 111 and Sheep Pasture Road in the Albertson area, reported.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol stated that the ambulance crew was doing a non-emergency transport, without lights and siren, when they failed to stop at a stop sign and turned in front of the tractor-trailer, reported.
Two EMS workers were airlifted to ECU Health Medical Center, while the patient was transported to the Greenville hospital.
Duplin County EMS Director Brandon McMahon said the crash will have an impact on staffing.
鈥淚t鈥檒l take them out of work for a while. So, you know we鈥檙e already battling staffing shortages. So, yes this will affect us as far as staffing goes,鈥 McMahon said.
