Wis. workers injured when forklift forks drop on legs

STURTEVANT, Wis. 鈥 Two Case New Holland workers were hospitalized Wednesday after being trapped under the forks of a fallen forklift.

Officers from the Mount Pleasant Police Department and the South Shore Fire Department responded to the CNH Plant at 2701 Oakes Road for a report that a tractor had fallen on two people around 10:23 a.m. Wednesday, according to an MPPD press release.

The forks had already been raised by the time officers arrived, MPPD said.

The two individuals sustained significant injuries to their lower extremities, according to police. They were flown to Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee for injuries that were critical but not life-threatening.

A spokesperson from CNH said the company was 鈥渄eeply saddened鈥 to confirm that two contractors were seriously injured on Wednesday and said their thoughts are with the workers and their families.

鈥淲e are fully cooperating with the authorities in their investigation to determine the cause of the accident. At this time, we are focused on providing support to those affected and ensuring the safety of all our employees and partners,鈥 the CNH spokesperson said.

Police are still investigating the cause of forklift falling.
