NEW YORK 鈥� A firefighter injured in a Bronx house fire was discharged from Jacobi Medical Center on May 19.
FDNY EMS personnel saved Firefighter Kevin Paulicelli鈥檚 life with CPR and the administration of hydroxocobalamin, reported.
The 38-year-old father of two, assigned to Engine Company 90, collapsed while battling the two-alarm fire. A mayday was issued, and firefighters dragged him out. He was unconscious by the time they reached the sidewalk, reported.
鈥淓veryone worked together, really did their job,鈥� Paulicelli said. 鈥淚鈥檓 here now because of all of them.鈥�
鈥淚t was scary but I鈥檓 very relieved at how everything turned out,鈥� Engine 90 Captain Richard Cudde said. 鈥淗e has got a little ways to go, but with the support of this great department we鈥檙e gonna get there.鈥�
鈥淔or us, we save lives every day and our members are so special for doing that,鈥� FDNY Commissioner Laura Kavanagh said. 鈥淏ut to have saved the life of one of our own is particularly special between the firefighters, the EMTs, and the medics. It feels good.鈥�
