Worker burned in an explosion at Conn. bowling alley

A worker suffered burns to his face and arms when an air conditioner exploded at an East Haven bowling alley

EAST HAVEN, Conn. — A maintenance worker sustained burns to his face and arms after an electrical explosion on the roof of a Main Street bowling alley Tuesday, according to East Haven officials.

The East Haven Fire Department said the explosion occurred at an air-conditioning unit at AMF Circle Lanes in the 500 block of Main Street minutes before 5 p.m. Tuesday.

There was no blaze detected once firefighters arrived, according to the department, and the power promptly was disconnected.

The explosion remains under investigation, the Fire Department said.

There was no further information as of Wednesday morning on the severity of the maintenance worker’s injuries.
