Trump said Kennedy, a prominent environmental attorney, would focus on tackling issues involving pharmaceuticals, food additives and chemical safety.
During the campaign, he told NewsNation that Trump had asked him to 鈥渞eorganize鈥� agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Institutes of Health, and the Food and Drug Administration, the Associated Press reported.
Trump also announced Dr. Mehmet Oz, a celebrity heart surgeon and television personality, as his pick to lead the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The CMS oversees healthcare for more than a third of Americans, including programs like Medicare and Medicaid.
