QUEENSBURY, N.Y. 鈥 An off-duty paramedic joined other first responders in saving a young girl at Six Flags Great Escape Lodge and Indoor Waterpark in Queensbury.

Stacy Brayton and her 5-year-old son, CJ, from Chestertown, were at the waterpark when Brayton, a Medcor employee, saw an unresponsive girl being pulled from the water, reported.

With her paramedic training, Brayton and others, unable to find a pulse, quickly started CPR.

鈥淚 just saw her. Like you focus in on what you need to do, and everything else kind of gets blurred,鈥 Brayton said. 鈥淭raining kicks in. There鈥檚 no off switch for sure.鈥

A Great Escape spokesperson said that the park鈥檚 on-site lifeguard and EMT team assisted in rescuing the girl.

鈥淲e did compressions for about five minutes or so and then she started breathing on her own. And then by the time the ambulance got there, she was conscious and crying,鈥 Brayton said. 鈥淪o then when everybody came in, I just said to them, 鈥楽he鈥檚 breathing, she鈥檚 breathing,鈥 because that鈥檚 the first thing you want to hear as a first responder.鈥

The girl was transported by helicopter to Albany Medical Center where she recovered.
